Excerpt from Occasional Papers, Vol. 1 of 2: Selected From the Guardian, the Times, and the Saturday Review 1846-1890The reviews, articles, and biographical sketches which are reprinted in these volumes have, with only one exception, formed part of the Dean's contributions to the newspapers whose names are given on the title-page, during a period of forty-four years, from 1846 to 1890. The Dean began writing for the Guardian in 1846, and continued to be a regular weekly contributor down to 1871, when he came to St. Paul's. His reviews and articles in that paper alone, judging by a list which is not even so quite a complete one, number over a thousand. For the Saturday Review he wrote regularly, though less frequently, between the years 1861 and 1871.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
