Informed by the view that it was written by Edward de Vere, seventeenth Earl of Oxford, this edition of Shakespeare's 'Othello' will reward the reader with a new and profound appreciation of the play and its emotional impact by revealing its true meaning and significance. Its true author drew on his life experience, the times, his travels in Italy, and his deepest personal concerns to write the tragicomedy under the pseudonym William Shakespeare. The edition includes a full introduction and extensive annotations by co-editors Ren Draya of Blackburn College and Richard F. Whalen, who is also co-general editor of the Oxfordian Shakespeare Series with Daniel Wright of Concordia University. 'Othello' follows 'Macbeth, ' the first in the series.
