Excerpt from Outlines of Liberal Judaism: For the Use of Parents and Teachers View which is less pronouncedly liberal than my own, there are no Liberal Jewish parents who would not obtain much suggestion and help from him in the matters which I have either omitted altogether, or dealt with in the briefest possible way. Finally, I desire to state that the larger portion of my book was read and criticised by a number of Jewish friends, of whom all but one share my own Liberal opinions. This common faith did not, however, prevent them from making a number of corrections, criticisms and suggestions, many of which I have silently adopted, while, in other cases, I have quoted what the critic actually said. The critics consisted both of women and men, but I have spoken of them all alike in the masculine gender. I am greatly indebted to them for their patient kindness. My readers will be indebted to them too. One or them, moreover, was good enough to read through the whole book, except the last two chapters, in proof, and on this occasion also to make several valuable suggestions, almost all of which have been incorporated into the text.
