Story behind the story: "Pete's First Play Date was inspired by my grandson, who often takes his cues from his older sister. When she started going on playdates, he insisted that he was old enough to follow suit...even though, at the time, he was only three. As I listened to him passionately present his case that he was "old enough” and "big enough, ” the idea for the story popped into my head!
