Philosophy in the Public Sphere Analysis of Quasi Wiredu's Concepts of Human Rights and Democracy

Angebote / Angebote:

In the contemporary political discourse, the concepts human rights and democracy have been discussed as close concepts and their interdependence has been recognized by many philosophers, scholars, political activists and many international and regional organizations. A lot of literature exists analyzing their relationship, how they complement each other. Some texts consider respect for human rights to be a prerequisite for democracy, or the other way around. Other texts hold that democracy and human rights are interdependent and mutually reinforcing. Others point out that respecting human rights does not automatically turn a nation into a democracy. Certain human rights can adequately be protected in nondemocracies and so they are independent. This research work intends to explore deeply on these concepts.
