It is not a treatise on the Lord's Supper, and is not intended to rival or supersede larger works on this subject, Among these, the preference may safely be given to the Communicant's Companion, by the Rev. Matthew Henry. The latter portion of this manual is taken up with a series of brief counsels, not limited to the sacrament, but concerning the whole beginnings of a Christian walk. The performance, small and plain as it is, may be found useful to simple-minded professors of some standing in the Church, especially such as have been destitute of careful instruction.
