It was the excuse my father used to divorce my mother when I'd reached the tender age of five. It was a family motto that was embedded in my bones and now I was using it to justify my need to surgically attach myself to my couch, a tub of ice cream in my hand as I binge-watched three seasons of the trashiest reality TV known to man.
