Poultry-Keeping on Money-Making Lines (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from Poultry-Keeping on Money-Making Lines Hen in 1916 I added this volume to the poultry public's library one of my main objects was to give poultry-keepers a sound everyday reference volume that was complete in all branches. That there was real need for such a standard work is evidenced by the extraordinary welcome given to the book, of which this is the sixth large impression. The first edition was sold out in a few months and although the book has been safely steered through the war ¿oods of paper and printing difficulties, etc., it has often been out of print and even for many months at a time. It has won through to better times, however, thanks to the kindly co~operation and activities of the publishers. From the first, it became a favourite with the poultry public, and to-day it still leads in popularity and in sales, having broken all records. I am therefore sending out the volume once more in the same form as it originally appeared, except for an additional chapter dealing with Poultry-farming as a Profession Although I had no intention originally of asking the book to make history it has clearly accomplished that. It has apparently been the general text book in poultry-farming matters also, hence this final chapter in the present impression. The text covers the whole field of poultry-keeping, and in the majority of cases touches upon details arising from special conditions. The many pitfalls are clearly pointed out, and a close study of the book should enable the reader to avoid them and tread the stepping stones to success. The work is cosmopolitan and is a sound reference book for all who keep poultry Whether for pleasure or profit. Once more I hope to see from my labours a greater respect and understanding of the little domestic hen. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
