Thus, in Politics, the great objects of Peace, Retrenchment, and Extension of the Franchise are recognized as the very motto of the party of Reform, while in Law, the simplifying of its provisions by the adoption of a Code, and the abolition of needless discrepancies between the legal systems of the several parts of the realm, are shown, by the discussions of jurists, to be the fundamental improvements to which all others are subordinate.
