Excerpt from Program of the Bicentennial Exercises: First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, Pa., September 19-30, 1934This was the beginning of the Presbyterian Church of Carlisle. In 1757 the congregation moved to town, Carlisle by that time having been laid out and made the county-seat, and had projected the stone meeting house on the Square which, when completed some years later, became the home of the congregation, and has continued so ever since.
