A special issue entitled "The Space of the Stage, " Volume XXVIII of Renaissance Drama includes essays that explore the centrality of notions of "space" to early modern theatrical literature and practice. Sullivan (Pennsylvania State University), "Putting Tamburlaine on a (Cognitive) Map" by Crystal Bartolovich (Syracuse University), " '(W)rapping togas over Elizabethan garb': Tabloid Shakespeare at the 1934 Chicago World's Fair" by Rosemary Kegl (University of Rochester), " 'Material Flames': Romance, Empire, and Mercantile Fantasy in John Fletcher's The Island Princess" by Michael Neill (University of Auckland), "'My Body Bestow upon My Women': The Space of the Feminine in The Duchess of Malfi" by Judith Haber (Tufts University), "King Lear Without: The Heath" by Henry Turner (Columbia University), "The Idea of Theater: Humanist Ideology and the Imaginary Stage in Early Modern Europe" by William West (Stanford University), and "Gynocentric London Spaces: (Re)Locating Masterless Women in Early Stuart Drama" by Fiona McNeill (Columbia University).
