His careful observations, the zeal for the public good with which he was ever on the alert to prevent establishment of dangerous infestations in the Colony, the hearty courtesy and open-mindedness with which all points under discussion were conducted with the cc-operators with whom he was in correspondence at home or abroad, make his loss cause of great regret to his colleagues and friends, and with a grateful remembrance of many years' unfailing assistance and cc-operation, I desire to add my tribute of deep respect to his memory.
