Five inspectors of boilers, authorized by the provisions of chapter 620, Acts of 1911, have not yet been appointed. The clerical force is made up of the first and second clerks, the stenographer to the Chief, one clerk and three stenographers employed in the detective department, two stenographers and seven clerks in the inspection department, of which number two stenographers are employed in connection with the work of inspectors of factories and public buildings, three clerks in connection with the work of inspectors of boilers, one of whom also acts as secretary to the Board of Boiler Rules, and one clerk in each of the four branch offices of the force, at Fall River, Salem, Springfield and Worcester, respectively, such clerks being employed, in connection with the work of the entire force represented at said offices.
