Excerpt from Report of the Dominion Entomologist, C. Gordon Hewitt, D.Sc., F. R. S. C., For the Year Ending March 31, 1916We are also indebted to the Federal Horticultural Board of the United States Department of Agriculture for their co-operation, particularly in the matter Of inspecting trains leaving the brown - tail and gipsy moth quarantined area in the New England States and destined for Canadian points during the ¿ight period of the moths. As yet the gipsy moth has not reached Canada from the United States, although in its northeasterly spread in the state of Maine it has now reached within fifty miles of the international boundary and its discovery in New Brunswick at any time would not surprise us in view of the extent to which the small larvae may be spread by the wind. The United States Department of Agriculture annually carries out a careful scout of the territory adjoining the known limits Of the area infested by the gipsy moth.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
