Excerpt from Researches in Female Pelvic Anatomy My chief aim has been to observe accurately, and to describe with faithfulness, the great mass of facts which have come under my observation. The work of investigation has been carried out in the Laboratory of the Royal College of Physicians. The majority of the plates have been drawn by myself from nature, the rest being done by Mr. J. T. Murray. The photographs were made with the aid of Mr. J.H. Paterson, the Laboratory-Assistant. Plates XXIII. XXIV. are copied, with the kind permission of Dr. Savage, from his work, The Surgery, Surgical Pathology, and Surgical Anatomy of the Female Pelvic Organs. To the officials of the Laboratory I am deeply indebted for the facilities granted me for the prosecution of my work, and I wish especially to acknowledge the unfailing kindness which I have received from the. Curator of the Laboratory, Dr. J. Batty Tuke. To Dr. Freeland Barbour I desire to express my deepest obligations, since it was through his generosity that I obtained, when his assistant, most of the specimens. For one of the specimens I am indebted to Professor A. R. Simpson. Part of "The Beginning of the Puerperium" section was described by me. in a paper published conjointly with Dr. Barbour in the Laboratory Reports R.C.P.E., Vol. II. I give this part here, together with the rest of the description (as it was my own work), in order to complete my series. All the cases were seen and examined by me during life.
