Sarah Sun has 24-hours to win a town-wide writing contest and gain creative glory. Will she make the cut or be destined to remain an anonymous 14-year-old? Sarah Sun is designed and written for special readers, with active reading done by local high schooler Jess Hopkins. It is 40 pages, one plot, and introduces Sarah Sun, our intrepid high school freshman. As her teachers tell her parents, Sarah is smart, funny, talented, and needs to work on...well she can never remember that part, but she's pretty sure it's all good. Sarah spends most of her time at Everley High School in Room 31 with Mr. Bee, the class's devoted teacher who also coaches girls' soccer. Mr. Bee is a young Nigerian immigrant who never ceases to view his life with wonder and seeks to pass this enthusiasm along to his students. He will not, however, tolerate constant interruptions, something that Sarah doesn't have the best time with. At home Sarah puts up with her strict parents and her older sister Lindsay. Lindsay always makes Sarah sit in the back of their mom's old Mini-Cooper while her friends sit shotgun on their way to and from school. Sarah may have special needs, but Lindsay really could not care less. Sarah's just her little sister and Lindsay finds Sarah as awesome and annoying as she would anyone else. Sarah's a person like anyone else. She messes up, she triumphs, then she messes up again on the way to more accomplishments. The Sarah Sun series will follows her ups and downs and she gets through high school and works her way towards life successu.
