The Sabbath is a special day that God has provided also promising rest for mankind. It prefigures that great day when Christ returns like a Groom for his beloved Bride. Nevertheless, Jesus Christ offers you this invitation: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 NLT With Christ's Disciples being accused and legally guilty of breaking the Sabbath, Christ's defiant response challenges Sabbatarians and those who are ignorant of the Sabbath's significance. He declared his mission and purpose. He also asserted his ultimate authority, stating what God truly desires: "If you had known what these words mean, 'I will have mercy, not sacrifice, ' you would not have condemned the innocent." Matthew 12:7 NIV Yes! Christ declared them innocent, making it clear that his mission was about clearing guilt and forgiving sinners. His mission was a mission of Reconciliation, Mercy and Grace as preordained from the very beginning as the Sabbath implies. Christ great authority in these matters was confirmed when he aligned himself with the Sabbath making a bold claim. "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." Matthew 12:8 NIV Christ made very clear, the Sabbaths importance to humankind as it connects us to Christ's mission on our behalf by the will and intention of the Father confirmed in scripture thru the Holy Ghost. This is not a book for legalist, this book is God's invitation for all to come and experience what we have been missing or misunderstood regarding the importance of the and to recognize God's great love for you.
