As it is impossible to get more work out of a machine than is put into it, so it is impossible to get more sugar out of the factory than enters it in the form of raw material. Indeed, it is impossible to get as much, notwithstanding all improve ment in sugar machinery and the accumulated experience of centuries. Some sugar is invariably lost that is, not converted into crystals.
