Excerpt from Sermons for My Curates
In the winter of 1863 - 4, soon after Morning-ton Church had been opened, Mr. Lynch, then in very ill health, and suffering cruelly from a painful and fatal disease, determined to attempt an Evening Service. For a time he had been compelled, sorely against the grain, to preach only on Sunday mornings, in the evenings the little Church was closed. The fear that his Congregation might suffer through his inability to conduct two Services in the day was a constant care and grief to him. It was no pleasure to him to be singular, but a pain.
