Danger threatens at the Autumn Ball, where a tentative friendship begins with fellow student Russell, who is impressed by her critiques and her pluck. Russell is researching human longevity sponsored by an unscrupulous company that targets Ambi. He is attracted to her but wrestles with his materialist convictions.
