Based on real life Victorian events, this story follows Hannah Marshall, who was sent from home at the age of fifteen to work for a farmer in the West Riding of Yorkshire. After an eventful journey, she settles into her new life, where people show her kindness, and opportunities are at every turn.
Marrying Tom presents her with many choices, including the possibility of travelling to America, but it seems fate has other ideas for Hannah after they move into Soap House Yard.
