During the early part of his refidence at Berne, he publithed many excellent efi'ays on various inb jeéts in the Helvetic 701mm! Particularly a Wfl'k on the talents and erudition of Hal/er. This grate ful tribute to the jufi merits of his friend and benefaétor, 'he afterwards enlarged into a com '~plete hifiory of his life and writings, as a fcholar, a philolbpher, a phyfician, and a man.
