In the second case the replacement of the mercury by hydrogen is ac companied by, or followed by, the loss of water. The mercury derivative of cyano-acetic acidl behaves in a manner similar to that of the mercury malonic derivatives. The mercury derivative of camphor2 is said to be decomposed rapidly by an acetone solution of potassium iodide.
