The standard shell ing cylinder is open with three equally spaced sheller bars that are supported by hubs installed on the ends and middle of the central shaft. Standard sheller bars are 2 - inch and 4 - inch wide cast-iron bars. On their outside surfaces facing the sheller grate, the bars have numerous staggered protrusions, similar to those on the grate, which provide additional corners or edges for breaking open the pods.
