It cost over and was dedicated in 1867. The spire, 236 feet high, is the tallest in the city, and the interior of the church is exceedingly handsome, with most beautiful windows, devotional in design and rich in color. The society first worshipped in the old Federal Street Theatre, and later in a plain church building on Winter Street. W. M. Rogers was the first pastor.
