Angebote / Angebote:

Zoe has been an English educator for many years and loves her vocation. She has worked for state and private schools at primary and secondary levels as well as tertiary level for AMES, Chisholm Institute and Swinburne University of Technology. This particular book is the third of four EAL/EFL Grammar & Activities books, and excluding the reading comprehension sections, may be used independently of the novel Speak English like Australians! Learners can listen to stories from the novel on YouTube and then complete extra listening activities in all of the Grammar & Activities books. There are ANSWERS for every exercise in all of the Grammar & Activities books. These Grammar & Activities books are designed to support and to enrich the knowledge of people who find Australian English "bamboozling". For easier use, a different page colour is used for each of the 17 sections in the Grammar & Activities series of books. The sections are listed here: Chants, Grammar, Pronunciation, Speaking, Verb Tenses, Conversation Bits, Listening, Proverbs, Spelling, Vocabulary, Dictation, Parts of Speech, Reading Comprehension: Tongue Twisters, Writing, Figures of Speech, Phonograms For reading comprehensions, readers will relate to the simplified stories from the novel Speak English like Australians! which are part of life experience and also because of the common thread of humanity that binds us. Also, the novel is useful to teachers and students, who will enjoy reading and sharing, the thirty-two chapters of true stories, about the experiences of a migrant family in rural Hamilton, in western Victoria. Set in the 1950s and up until 1969, it is an honest telling of what can happen to people as they settle into a new country with a different culture and try to learn Aussie English. The stories provoke discussions in class, as well as with friends. Some of the many issues raised include: assimilation, self-identity, racism, intolerance, bullying, sexism, compulsive disorders, cultural misunderstandings and arranged marriages! Altogether there are four EAL/EFL Grammar & Activities books Speak English like Australians!, and for reading purposes each makes some reference to eight consecutive chapters of the novel Speak English like Australians!
