Excerpt from Spring Catalogue, 1925: L. J. Farmer's Jumbo Bargains in Trees, Shrubs, Plants, Vines, EtcFor garden culture, set strawberries 1 foot to 18 inches apart in the row, with rows two to three feet apart. For field culture set the same distance in the row, but make the rows 4 to 5 feet apart. There are 43560 square feet in an acre and you can 'find the number of plants that go on an acre by dividing 43560 by the multiplied distance between the plants. Thus an acre of strawberries set 5 by 1 contains 8712 plants and an acre set 4 by 1, con tains a little over plants. This method can be used to find the number of plants or trees of any kind that can be planted on an acre. The best time to get strawberries in the North is early Spring, but transplanted plants can be set any time in the growing season and pot grown plants are best set in July, August and Septem ber. October and November are best months for setting strawberry plants in Florida and similar climates.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
