Excerpt from Streamflow Responses to Road Building and Harvesting: A Comparison With the Equivalent Clearcut Area ProcedureThe Horse Creek administrative-research site is in the Nez Perce National Forest in north-central Idaho, about 35 miles east of Grangeville. Two third order streams, the Main and East Forks of Horse Creek, drain the area toward the east, entering Meadow Creek several miles upstream from its con¿uence with the Selway River. Within the Main Fork basin are 15 gauged first and sec ond order watersheds, 10 on the north side of the Main Fork and five on the south side (fig. One watershed on each side of the Main Fork serves as an undisturbed con trol watershed.
