Attacks have been made and are still in progress on Christianity and on all the foundations of our Christian empire, by three allied systems of error - Ultramontanism, Agnosticism, or Secularism, and the Liberationism, which would banish the name of Christ from the whole world of politics. At such a time, I would earnestly counsel the younger clergy, and the moral instructors of the next generation, lay or clerical, to lay to heart the charge of St Paul, just before his martyrdom, to Timothy, his son and companion in the faith.
