Excerpt from The American Journal of Obstetrics and Diseases of Women and Children, Vol. 25: January-June, 1892Treatment. - From the enumeration of symptoms of pro~ lapse above given it is evident that the object of treatment in this form of displacement should undoubtedly be the res toration of the womb to its former position as nearly as pos sible. How this should be accomplished is not the subject of this paper. I might, however, brie¿y state that in younger persons, still in the childbearing age, pessaries are advisable as a temporary measure. A time will, however, arrive when no instrument will retain the prolapse and an operation has to' be resorted to. Also in older persons, when for any reason an Operation seems not feasible, pessaries are allowable. I con sider an operation upon the vagina to answer well enough in.
