James Evans Another thing which this godly master felt to be a duty incumbent upon him, was to see that all those young persons under his authority, Should, on the Lord's day, attend some place of religious worship. He did not interfere with the religious preferences of his servants, but he in sisted that they should be found, at least once every Sabbath, at the different churches indicated by themselves or their parents. In this, also, his conduct is to be commended. Too many young persons leaving home for a strange town or city, neglect to identify themselves with the church of their fathers, or with any church, for the Simple reason that no one takes any interest in them, or accompanies them to the house of God. In this way thousands of those who, if wisely and kindly directed, might have been saved to the churches, have been allowed to drift away until the religious in¿uences of their early life are deadened and dissipated by the new surroundings.
