Excerpt from The Archive, Vol. 75: November 1963I would prefer a place where people would be interested in three or four con temporary poets, but not the completely far out ones. My own* taste, at the mo ment, runs to poets like Richard Wilbur, for instance, whom I think 15 really good. Another is Jeffry Hill, a young English poet. I also think Father Thomas is an excellent poet. The poem I used in the talk to freshmen is a Thomas poem. He's the most unclerical Anglican priest I know. Though there turn out to be a lot of unclerical Anglican priests at the moment. We aren't.
