In an effort to enable their son to be closer to his friend Rachel, the parents of Bobby Garrett enroll him in a Catholic boarding school situated in the northwest corner of Illinois. A frightful experience, early in his first year, develops a lasting bond between Bobby, four other students, and several members of the religious community.Although determined to accelerate his studies, in order to obtain a diploma in three years, the teenager is distracted by the sexual anxieties he experiences whenever he does visit with Rachel.
