Excerpt from The Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, Vol. 158: January-June, 1908 It is a good rule never to be satisfied with the diagnosis of tuberculosis of the bladder, and especially so in women. Particularly unfortunate are those individuals, by no means few in number, as pointed out by Rovsing, who develop an unrecognized tuber culeus lesion of the kidney and bladder in the course of a chronic gonorrhea, for the latter disease masks the former, and the treatment appropriate for it, such as the use of sounds and irrigations, are especially inappropriate, to say the least, for tuberculosis.
