The Calm and the Strom

Angebote / Angebote:

When approaching Mounts Bay from the east the first thing you will see is the amazing spectacle of St Michael's Mount. It is cut off from the mainland by the tide and can be crossed on foot at low tide via a cobbled causeway. The castle at the top is very old and once housed a Benedictine monastery. The original Cornish name was "karreck loos yn koos" meaning "hoar rock in the wood". This fictional story is based around the lives of my ancestors who were villagers in the 18th century. They worked hard to survive in a very different world that we know today. I felt very interested to know more about their everyday life and how it was for them. I decided to trace my ancestors and felt an overwhelming charge when I came across my ancestor's names referenced in "The Mount People" by Jane Mason, published in February 1991 by Turan books. Therefore I felt the need to write my own story. My story is fictional and I felt compelled to write it the way I imagined it would be.
