Excerpt from The Care of the BodyProfessor Metchnikoff has settled this question for us in his Nature of Man, by deciding that the healthy individual should live to the age of one hundred and forty. It is his suggestion that no death occurs in the proper fashion, which should be of all the parts equally - as in the historic disruption of the Deacon's Masterpiece but that it always ensues prematurely from actual disease of one or more systems of the body, and that therefore a genuinely healthy man does not exist.
