The Chief Works of Benedict De Spinoza, Vol. 1

Angebote / Angebote:

Excerpt from The Chief Works of Benedict De Spinoza, Vol. 1: Translated From the Latin, With an Introduction In Holland there has also been a revival of interest in the illustrious Dutch thinker. Professors Van Vloten and Land were mainly instrumental in procuring the erection of a statue to his memory, and are now engaged in a fine edition of his works, of which the first volume has appeared.1 In England, as before said, the interest in Spinoza has till recently been slight. The controversialists of the eighteenth century, with the exception of Toland, passed him by as unworthy of serious study. The first recognition of his true character came probably from Germany through Coleridge, who in his desultory way expressed enthusiastic admiration.
