But it is in military hospitals that it is most to be dreaded and where its most fearful ravages are recorded, and this, too, notwithstanding its etiology has been so thoroughly investigated and is so well understood by military surgeons. Baudens mentions that it broke out in one of the military hospitals in Africa with such intensity that every man who had undergone a great operation perish ed with it.
