The Commonwealth Charter of the City of Salisbury, (12) September, 1656

Angebote / Angebote:

Excerpt from The Commonwealth Charter of the City of Salisbury, (12) September, 1656: Edited for the Royal Historical Society From the Contemporary Copy of the Original Charter, in Possession of the Mayor and Corporation, and the Enrolment in the Court of ExchequerThis Record may, indeed, be regarded as supplying a preferable text to the uncouth and Somewhat illiterate copy preserved in the place of the original charter. As, however, the transcript of the latter had already been printed before the discovery of the Exchequer enrolment, and as the publication of an enrolment was not in contemplation by Dr. Gardiner himself, a collation of the latter with the Salisbury copy has been made to the extent only of indicating verbal but not literal variants. These are indicated by the letter T, and the heading of the Exchequer enrolment has also been given in a foot-note.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
