Excerpt from The Design of a Portland Cement Plant: Utilizing Blast-Furnace SlagThe object of this thesis is the design of a plant for the manufacture of Portland cement/which is to have a capacity of 500 barrels per day of 24 hours. The raw materials to be utilized are blast-furnace and other slags produced in iron and steel industries. The plant is to manufacture a true Portland cement using a slag-limestone mixture, where the slag takes the place of the clayey materials usually employed in Portland cement manufacture.
