On Nov. Ist, 1898, the tests were bee gun and have continued to the present time. They were undertaken for the purpose of procuring data relative to egg production, and also, by selection and breeding, to improve the quality and increase the number of eggs produced.
In order to study individuals as well as ¿ocks, trap nests were placed in the thir teen pens included ih the tests, and daily egg records kept with each individual bird during the twelve months following. With some of the largest yielders the records were continued into succeeding years.
