Sometimes, to save trouble, and economise the iron thus prepared, the artist will rough file an English barrel, weld a strap of Damascus iron Spirally round it, or several straps are laid longitudinally along it, and welded on. ¿ native artist never works with pit coal, under any consideration charcoal from light wood, forms his only fuel.
