Excerpt from The Geology of Building StonesIN the following pages an attempt has been made to gather together some of the facts about the Geology of Building Stones, mainly with a view to the requirements of students of architecture.Special attention has been given throughout to the materials found in the British Isles, but it has been thought desirable to add brief references to some of the stones of other countries.Naturally, in dealing with a subject covering so wide a field, selection and much condensation have been inevitable. Limitations of space have prevented the con sideration of Ornamental Stones, and the introduction of references to the very numerous sources of information.The writer's thanks are due to Professor T.
