The ground north of the Bowmont Water and the River Glen, rather more than two-thirds of the whole district, Was surveyed by Mr. William Gunn, the rest by Mr. C. T. Clough. The mapping of the Whole district was carried on under the supervision of Mr. H. H. Howell. In the following pages, written by Messrs. Gunn and Clough, each author describes the tracts surveyed by him, and the relative share of each is marked by the initial letters appended to the several sections of the Memoir.
