In the final years of colonial Burma, young Andrew Wells arrives in Rangoon to assume a post in the Commissioner's office. As he grows fond of his adopted country, its people, and in particular of the charming and beautiful Burmese Mya Shwe, Andrew also begins to penetrate the cultural veil that obscures the underlying causes of unrest.
