This book is based on a true story about a man that also happens to be my ancestor. It was a time of Civil War and much of the country was in strife. As the War raged in many parts of the country, there were small and obscured communities that were not affected in many ways and as a result, carried on as they had for a half century. I have always had an interest in telling stories, particularly this one. We hear about slave stories all the time, but with all due respect, I believe this story is not a slave story but a story about the challenges, courage, and the decisions you make when you are faced with accepting who you are. I encourage you to read this book because it is an eye opener and I hope you will enjoy what you read.
