Modern day Londoner India Lucas arrives in the 18th century in her nightgown and without any shoes on her feet, and soon ends up in the labyrinthine Radcliff House. Here, she meets the enigmatic Lord William Radcliff. She has no memory of how or why she ended up at the manor and sees and hears strange things that make her think the house is haunted.
She and William fall in love and become inseparable. However, when objects from her time appear out of nowhere, she is convinced she will return to the 21st century imminently and will never see William again.
