In a work so extremely limited in design as a local history, this plan was open to numerous grave Obj eetions. The chapters relating to distinct departments Of history would have been so numerous, and the transition from one to another in some instances so violent, that the plan could hardly be said to be an improvement on the One adopted, and it is not improbable that, comprehensive as it seems, a strict adherence to it might have led to the exclusion Of certain incidents altogether.
