That little need here be added in presenting these two volumes to the reader. The Books called Apocrypha formed an integral part of the Authorized Version of the Holy Bible in 161 I, and it was thought therefore that the design of a Commentary on that Version would not be completely carried out unless these books received a similar treatment with those which are recognised as Canonical, while their inherent interest and importance rendered it desirable that the English reader should be furnished with a much more complete edition and explanation of them than any he has hitherto possessed.
