Powers, of California, says: It has been my practice for several years to use in halations of amyl nitrite in all amblyopia cases, and I have found it ofgreat value, especially (if not ex elusively) in the cases of tobacco amblyopia. I be lieve that it is of great assistance in differential diag nosis, for thus far it has proved that, in progressive atrophy from other causes, no benefit is derived from the exhibition of the amyl, while in tobacco amblyo pia vision is immediately and markedly improved.
